  11. <p>   Climate and Clothing: The Gambia's sub-tropical climate has
  12. a distinct hot, rainy season (mid-May to mid-November). During
  13. the cold, dry season (mid-November to mid-May), wear a light
  14. jacket or sweater.
  15. </p>
  16. <p>   Health: Sanitation in Banjul is fair and tapwater is
  17. potable. Yellow fever, rabies, tetanus, typhus, and typhoid
  18. immunizations and antimalaria suppressants are recommended. The
  19. swamps around Banjul breed mosquitoes.
  20. </p>
  21. <p>   Telecommunications: Telex service is available to the US,
  22. Europe, and Dakar. Radiotelephone service operates to the UK,
  23. most of Europe, and the west coast of Africa. Satellite-
  24. telephone service is available to Europe and the US. Banjul is
  25. five standard time zones ahead of eastern standard time.

  27. <p>   Transportation: Banjul is 25 minutes by air from Dakar,
  28. where worldwide air connections are frequent and excellent.
  29. Direct flights to London from Banjul operate on Mondays and
  30. Fridays. Taxis are available at stands; agree on the fare in
  31. advance.
